"Windy Reflections"

So the weather here has been gorgeous the past few days and it has put me in a reflective state of mind.  I've been thinking a lot about anything and everything and making sure that I am taking the time to just reflect on my life and on my devotions.  Since we do not have a beach anywhere near to go and relax the lake has been my refuge (it's amazing what a change of scenery can do for ya)...however the wind has been a mighty force over the past few days.  My hair has been battling to stay in its place due to the fierce winds and to be honest the score is hair 0 - Wind 1,000

So excited I got to bust out these new $10 sandals from Target.

The wind inspired some pretty crazy instagram photos on my phone...so thanks wind.

Bonus:  If you have an iPhone and do not have the "Draw Something" app you are missing out.  In a nutshell it is pictionary with your friends.  Below is one of my favorites that Emily Sent me.  Can you guess what it is?!

Hope you are enjoying some beautiful weather as well :)

"Happy Sunday"

Sorry it has been a while folks.  I'm still trying to catch up with school after break.  Praise the Lord that Spring Break is just around the corner because I don't know how many more of these late night homework sessions I can take.  Unfortunately I am not the young Freshman I was 2 years ago.  Had the privilege of hearing Catherine Caine from Hillsong Church in Australia speak at church today.  She gave a powerful word from God this morning and I left feeling the "nudge" of the Holy Spirit.  One of the things she said that impacted me was, "If you are faithful with what is in your hands God will give you what is in your heart."  Remember that we are not here on this earth to promote ourselves but to promote God's name.  Hope you had a happy Sunday :)

Just a few of my most recent purchases.  Ready for Spring!

Good night Sleepy heads.

"Nifty Thrifty"

My life has been overwhelmingly busy over the past week so it has been extremely difficult to post.  There have been too many things that have happened to fit into this one post so I will summarize.  Zumba (inappropriate dancing), School, Valentines fundraisers, baking cookies, babysitting, weekend duty.  On top of all of that trying to find time for homework is not as easy as I thought it would be.  However, in the midst of all of the business I did manage some time to go thrifting in downtown WAX and thought I would share some of the goodies :)

Just a sampling of the old & beautiful treasures we found.  I'm a sucker for vintage books and chandeliers.  All that furniture made me want to be a little girl again...someday ;)  Needless to say this antique store will see me again soon.

"Bun Times"

There is nothing I like more than a fashionable bun!  Talk about a quick and easy way to keep your hair out of your face.  The bun is my absolute favorite hairstyle when I have 10 minutes to get ready before class, as long as it is done well.  Too many girls plop their hair on top of their head and walk out the door and although the "messy" bun look has potential to be cute sometimes it just looks sloppy.  Make sure that if you are going to do the bun you make sure it looks decent before you leave even if that means asking a friend.  Let's be honest friends tell it like it is.  Sometimes I think I would walk out looking crazy if it were not for them.  Here are some of my personal favorite "bun styles" ranging from simple to elegant.

Remember, just because you threw your hair up in a bun doesn't mean it looks good.  So take a hint from these lovely ladies and make sure you find the style that best suits you! Also, if you want to mix things up a bit you can try the french braid bun and if you need to, you can ask a friend to help.

Hope this helps!

"Dove's Nest"

Today for lunch Courtney, Emily and I went downtown to this cute little boutique and restaurant called the "Dove's Nest."  It is one of my favorite places to go because there is an antique store connected to the restaurant and it has some really fun stuff!

Love these moments with my best friends.  So blessed at this time in my life.

Good night sleepyheads!

"The Word"

I would just like to say that I am a setting a record... this is the second post in two days!  I'm on a roll ;)  Although today cannot truly be summed up in words.  We had the privilege of hosting Carrie Abbot on our campus today.  What an incredible and wise woman of God.  She speaks with such eloquence about sexuality. I have been soaking it all in.  I am so thankful for Godly men and women who take the perverted things of this world and refute them with the Inspired Word of God.  Having the opportunity to study the Word of God on a daily basis from some of the most respectable scholars is such an honor and I will forever cherish this time in my life... I can't get enough.  While I am so honored and thankful for the amazing professors here, there is nothing like studying the Scriptures for yourself.  Fall in love with God's Word and let it be obvious in your life.

And can I just say that McDonalds Mocha Frap is coffee bliss!  I think this could potentially be a problem :(
Goodnight sleepyheads.

"Radical"

So I realize it has been a while since I've posted anything.  Can I just say that my life has been completely consumed with books lately.  School is back in session and there is more demand than ever to read. I do not go anywhere without my books and my highlighter ;) The best part of being a college student is that learning is my "job."  I am soaking in all of the inspirational and informational things this semester and wish I had enough time to write about all of them (it would probably be a book in itself).  My mind is expanding at a rapid pace and inspiration is around every corner these days.  As I  soak in the vast knowledge from all around me I find such a deeper desire to fulfill these "God-sized" dreams within me.  Again, it would take way too many posts to share the dreams that are resonating in my heart right now but I can assure you that God's name will be glorified in me.  I want to simply leave you with this statement from David Platt's book "Radical"... "In a world that prizes promoting oneself we follow a teacher who tells us to crucify ourselves."  We live to promote God, not to promote "me."
(Plus, BONUS: I tried out some new hairdo's this week)

Bonus number 2!  If you are looking for a great worship album I came across this couple: Bryan & Katie Torwalt.  Incredibly gifted and anointed.  Check em out!
